Getting Around

To really enjoy and understand all the wonders of Oahu, you need to go beyond Waikiki. There are plenty of ways to get around to suit your time, budget and sense of adventure.

Car Rentals

Every major car rental company has locations both in Waikiki and near the Airport. For a taste on the wild side, there are exotic car rental companies. Reservations are recommended.

The Bus

Oahu's only transit system, The Bus, is a bargain and considered one of the best in the country. Go anywhere from a few blocks to around the island for just $1.50 per ride. Children's rates and four day passes available.

Waikiki Trolley

Another great deal, the Waikiki Trolley, leaves from the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Centre every 20 minutes from 8.30am - 6.30pm. It makes dozens of stops around Waikiki and Honolulu and beyond, with endless on and off privileges, historic information - all for a daily flat rate.

There are taxis all over Waikiki which will take you anywhere you want to go, along with a number of shuttle services to and from Oahu's shopping centres, Pearl Harbour, Aloha Tower Marketplace and the airport. Check with your hotel concierge or in the free tourist publications.

Bike Hire

For the young at heart, there are also motorcycle, moped and bicycle rentals available at numerous locations around Waikiki. Ride around the island on a Harley or bike your way through Honolulu.
